A pressure reducing valve is the small brass device near your main shutoff that keeps city pressure at a safe level. They last about 8 to 12 years here. When one fails you notice it fast, in the shower and in your repair bills. We replace it and set it where it belongs.
When You Need Water Pressure Regulator Replacement
Replace the regulator when pressure is too high or too low across the whole house, when pressure changes on its own during the day, when you hear a whistle or hum from the valve, when the adjustment screw no longer changes anything, or when the body is leaking.
Hard water and grit shorten regulator life in the Valley. Minerals build up on the internal seat and diaphragm, so the valve either sticks open and lets full city pressure through or clogs down and starves the house. Either way, once the internals are scaled, adjusting it does not help.
Our Water Pressure Regulator Replacement Process
We gauge the pressure first and test whether the existing valve responds at all, so you are not replacing a good regulator when the real issue is a partly closed main valve or a clogged line.
To replace it we shut off water at the meter, cut out the old valve, and install a new brass regulator with unions so it can be serviced later instead of cut out. We add or replace the main shutoff if it is seized, install an expansion tank if the system needs one, then set the outlet pressure to a safe range with a gauge, purge air from the lines, and check every fixture. Most replacements take two to three hours.
Water Pressure Regulator Replacement Cost in Phoenix
Price depends on the valve size, how the existing one is plumbed, whether the main shutoff also needs replacing, and access at the main line. You always get a flat price in writing before any work starts, so nothing changes at the end. There is no trip fee, and we do not charge extra for evenings or weekends. If we open things up and find more damage, we stop, show you what we found, and let you decide. Call 602-842-2344 and we will explain what your job will likely involve.
